Gladys Luck and her Family 1905 - 1996

A lovely mail from Harriet Tubb with some great photos:

I came across your page and wanted to send a photograph to you!

It is a photograph of my great grandmother, Gladys Luck who attended Wateringbury Girl’s school. I assume the picture was taken around 1915. She is in the back row, third from the left.

I would love for it to be shared and hopefully be recognisable to some people.

Best wishes,
Harriet

Wateringbury Girls School Photograph taken around 1915

Gladys (1905-1996) grew up on Old Road but moved away as a young woman. In 1917 she is in the school prize record for needlepoint. Her brother, Harry Luck (1904-1988) also attended the boy’s school and was a year older than her.

Her father, Alfred Luck (1877-1947), was a gardener employed by Mr Henry White and then by G C Devas Esq who lived in The Lodge. Alfred himself lived in The Lodge Cottage with his wife once his children had grown. I’ve attached two photos of him also (it slipped my mind to before!). He is on the right in the first picture; I am unsure of the man on the left. He was an active member of the Wateringbury Gardener’s Society, and won many prizes at the Society shows throughout the 1910s.

Above is a photograph taken in Wateringbury of Gladys and Harry Luck with their mother Annie Luck (Baldwin), probably around 1910.
